UCLA / Weizmann neuroscientists first to correlate actual brain activity with fMRI signals
Validate the results of the MRI method as a research tool and clinical - Neuroscientists at UCLA and the Weizmann Institute of Science is the first to show a relationship between signals of functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI), a research largely and used clinical tool, and real activity of brain cells in people power. The results appear in the August issue of peer-reviewed journal Science. The research team recorded the UCLA responses of individual cells of the brain in the auditory cortex of two before surgery, patients with intracranial electrodes wired to see a nine-minute clip of the 1967 film by Clint Eastwood, The good, the bad and the ugly.Then these data are used to accurately predict the configuration of fMRI signals measured in 11 healthy volunteers, and
